Solidago comes from the word \u00b4solidare\u00b4 meaning \u00b4helen\u00b4. Virgarea is a compound of \u00b4svirga\u00b4 meaning \u00b4rod\u00b4 and \u00b4aurea\u00b4 meaning \u00b4golden\u00b4. Literally, the Latin name means &#8220;healing goldenrod. But what kind of plant is goldenrod and where does it come from? We explain.     \n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<h2>What is goldenrod?<\/h2>\nGoldenrod is a genus of more than 100 species in the composite family<em>(Asteraceae<\/em>). The plant is characterized by its straight stem (rod) and striking golden yellow (goldenrod) flowers. Originally the Goldenrod is from North America, but some species are also found in Europe. Because of its beautiful flowers, the Goldenrod is very suitable as an ornamental plant and even as a decoration. In addition, the leaves and flowers are used to make tea.    \n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 25px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<h2>Why do we use goldenrod?<\/h2>\nGoldenrod has a pleasant earthy flavor.
