Slow juicing is a pressing technique in which the amount of movement and friction is as low as possible. This preserves as many of the enzymes and nutrients present in the ingredients as possible. Slow juicing is a different technique than juicing with the juicer. A juicer “squeezes” fruits and vegetables through a sieve with a great deal of force, friction and therefore heating. Sapje is ejected from the fruit with great force, so to speak. In the process, many valuable substances are lost. Moreover, in our experience, a slow juicer squeezes more juice from the same amount of ingredients. This is how we reduce food waste. Our professional, high-tech slow juicer scores extremely high in terms of nutrient retention and juice yield.Your juices come from the “Rolls Royce” among slow juicers! Read more about the benefits of a slow juicer here!
All ingredients in our vegetable juices, including the herbs and spices we use, are 100% organic. We are SKAL certified under the number: 103866. SKAL Biocontrole, as a regulator, is committed to demonstrable reliability of organic products in the Netherlands. ‘Organic’ is a legally protected term. An agricultural product or food may only be called organic if the production process meets legal requirements. This way, consumers can rest assured that an organic product is truly organic. Should I drink the Sapje in 1 go? We do not recommend drinking Sapje quickly. It is better to “chew” your Sapje and let it pass slowly through your mouth. In other words, drink slowly. By drinking slowly you also enjoy the taste of super fresh ingredients and powerful herbs.
This varies from person to person. After all, every body reacts differently! Some customers drink a Sapje to replace their breakfast or lunch. Others drink a Sapje between meals, for example between 10:00 and 11:00 or 14:00 and 15:00. It can provide a boost to get through the morning or afternoon! It is also possible to drink half of a bottle first and the other half later in the day. This is especially recommended if you feel your body needs to get used to so many raw vegetables. Some Sapje are ideally suited to drink after exercise. Our most important advice is: listen to your body and adjust the Sapje and drinking time accordingly.
Despite our precautions, it can happen that a bottle breaks during transport with the special freezer truck, or simply at home in your refrigerator while defrosting. Very annoying, but fortunately this rarely happens. (Only 1 out of 500 bottles breaks)
It is important not to drink from a broken bottle, but to throw it away immediately. Take a moment to take a clear picture of the glass bottle, showing the break, crack or other damage clearly. Then simply put the bottle in the glass container. Mail the photo of the broken bottle, together with your name to support@sap.je, and we will refund the amount of the broken bottles as credit to your Sapje account.
Why is detox good for me? A detox helps you let go of unhealthy habits and build a new healthy eating pattern. Because you only drink healthy (vegetable) juices during the detox, you get a lot of nutrients. This way you give your body and overall vitality extra support. Moreover, a detox cleanse is the ideal start to your healthier lifestyle. Read more about detox here.
Our vegetable juices and detox cleanses are delivered nationwide Monday through Saturday by special freezer trucks from Leen Menken between 08:00-14:00, 12:00-18:00 & 17:00-22:00. The cost for this is 6.95. On the Wadden Islands we deliver in consultation for an extra fee. In Belgium we deliver with special frozen food trucks every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:00-18:00, depending on your zip code. The delivery charge for Flanders is 6.95 and the delivery charge for Wallonia is 19.99. In the unlikely event that you are not at home, the Sapje will be delivered to your neighbor. Would you prefer that we drop the Sapje (unguarded) at your door? Please mention this in the order notes. There you can also include information about, for example, allergies. Do you have questions about delivery? Please contact our delivery service Leen Menken on 079 – 36 34 162. They can be reached from Tuesday to Friday between 8:30 and 18:00 and on Saturday between 8:30 and 17:00. On the evening before delivery you will receive an indication of the delivery time by email and on the day of delivery you will receive this by text message. Via the track & tracelink you can follow the driver in real time.
Questions about delivery
Take a clear picture of the broken bottles and email it along with your name and bank account number to support@sap.je. If you have more than 4 broken bottles we will schedule a new delivery appointment with you to redeliver the Sapje.
Food safety and our environment are very important to us. Resending one to four frozen Sapje with an external carrier such as PostNL is not possible because then we cannot guarantee food safety. We consider it environmentally irresponsible to redeliver one to four frozen juices using a special freezer truck. However, if it concerns five or more bottles that have fallen down, please contact us by phone (06- 34 16 95 51) or e-mail
Delivery in the Netherlands between 8:00-14:00, 12:00-18:00 and 17:00- 22:00 costs 6.95.
In Belgium, we deliver every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:00-18:00, depending on your zip code. The delivery cost for Flanders is 6.95 and the delivery cost for Wallonia is 19.99. Nationwide delivery of our Sapje with special freezer trucks costs us many times more, but we find it very important that we can deliver the highest quality juice and that everyone can enjoy our vegetable juice.
Our Sapje can only be ordered through our website. We will come and deliver it on your preferred day and time. We deliberately chose not to have physical stores and pickup points in order to focus entirely on making the best vegetable juice.
You can still change the content of your order, delivery day or time of delivery up to 24 hours before the scheduled delivery. You can change a delivery until 11:00 at the latest on the day before a scheduled delivery. Is your delivery scheduled for a Monday? Then you can change the delivery date until 11:00 on Friday at the latest. Of course you can also call or email us.
The day before the scheduled delivery, you can cancel your order free of charge. Once you have received the order, it cannot be returned. We have very strict food safety requirements and then we do not know if the quality and temperature of the bottles has been maintained.
Because we deliver the Sapjes frozen, it is important that you are home to accept them in person. We do not put the boxes outside your door or in a barn without your permission, otherwise they can slowly thaw. If you are not home for delivery you will always be called by our driver. Otherwise, the Sapje will be offered to your neighbors. Do you still want us to leave the Sapje (unguarded) at your door? Please mention this in the order notes. Did you forget the delivery anyway, despite the reminder email and text message? Then we will take the package back with us. It is then delivered for an additional fee of 6.95 on another day.
This is annoying, of course. However, scientific research has shown that after 7 to 10 tastings, your taste buds naturally get used to new flavors. From then on, you may even start to like the product very much. Your taste buds need to get used to the benefits of our fresh, unprocessed vegetable juices. For many people, these powerful, natural flavors are fairly unfamiliar territory. This is partly because many modern, refined foods bear little resemblance to the true flavors of nature. In addition, we work with the most famous Michelin-starred chefs in the Netherlands to continuously adjust our juices to the season. This also makes for surprising flavors. We therefore recommend that you continue to consume the Sapje nonetheless and let your body get used to the taste.
You may, of course, keep the empty bottles for private use. For example, for storing soups, dressings, Sapje and smoothies. If you don’t want to reuse the bottles, throw them away in the bottle bank. In the Netherlands and Belgium we have a fantastic circular recycling system. In fact, the bottles are completely returned as glass. The bottles of Sapje are also made of 100% recycled glass. Unfortunately, you cannot send the empty glass bottles to us for reuse. It is far from sustainable to send a truck with a box of empty bottles to Sapje. In addition, we have to chemically wash the bottles several times, which uses a lot of energy and water. There is also a higher chance of breakage when the bottles are reused and we cannot guarantee 100% food safety. Caked-on dirt can always be left behind. Recycling the glass bottles is therefore the most sustainable option. Read an extensive blog on why we choose glass bottles here .
If you’re on a detox cleanse and one of the bottles turns out to have broken, it can be very annoying. For this too, we will refund the breakage amount to your Sapje account as a credit. Fortunately, our vegetable juices are also available at the organic supermarket Marqt. Perhaps there is one in your area. If this does not work out, as a substitute you can make a Sapje, green smoothie or vegetable soup using our recipes that we will send you.
Questions about the detox cure
A detox cleanse is a method of consciously working on your health over a period of several days. During a detox , you basically only drink fresh (vegetable) juices, giving your body a short break. In addition, you also let go of your unhealthy habits. This is an ideal way to “reset” your lifestyle and learn new good habits. After the detox cleanse, you slowly build up eating healthy solid foods again. You can read more about it here….
A detox is suitable for anyone in good health. Do you have health problems or are you on medication? If so, consult your doctor first.
We do not recommend taking synthetic supplements. This is because during the cleanse you already get an awful lot of vitamins and minerals. See this page for an overview. Taking synthetic supplements could overload your organs and metabolism. If you do want to take supplements, we recommend that you take only natural supplements. Think of vitamin C from the Amla or Camu Camu berry. This is because these supplements are completely natural and also contain all co-nutrients, bio flavonoids, enzymes, and macro-nutrients.
You can basically do a detox cleanse as often as you want. After all, you can never consume enough healthy foods. The more healthy food you consume, the better it is for your body and mind. It is especially important to listen to the signals your body is giving you. These are different for each person. Some clients do monthly cleanses with us, while others repeat every three months. We do recommend that you repeat a detox cleanse at least quarterly, whether you order the juice from us or prepare it yourself at home. Just as you should regularly clean your car’s filters to keep its performance at its best, you can also give your body’s “filters” a cleaning. So when you maintain and repeat this, your body will continue to perform at its best.
You can definitely drink water during the cleanse. How much water you can drink is different for each person. You get an average of 2 liters of fluids during the cleanse through our vegetable juices. So in addition, if you start drinking a lot of herbal tea and water, you can also dehydrate yourself again. When you have to urinate excessively, you can also lose many important minerals in the process. The most important advice we can give you is to listen to your thirst signal. Drink only when you are thirsty and preferably filtered or mineral water. So don’t drink water if you’re not thirsty or because you think you should. The color of your urine is also an important indicator. If your pee is completely transparent and colorless, you are drinking too much water. Light yellow urine is generally heart healthy!
How your body will react to the detox treatment cannot be predicted. After all, every body is unique and reacts differently. Your body’s reaction depends on many factors, such as your lifestyle, fitness, diet, medication, drug use and metabolic system. You may initially feel uncomfortable during the detoxification treatment because you are acutely quitting addictive substances such as sugar, alcohol, smoking and coffee. This may also be because you are fasting and living primarily on vegetable juices. After a day or two, you will basically no longer suffer from this. The possible side effects of the detox cleanse are listed below in order from most to least common: Headaches, sweating, restless sleeping (weird dreams and nightmares), extreme cravings for (unhealthy) food/hunger, muscle pain, fatigue, low energy level, delayed bowel movements, lower back pain, irritation, bloating, nausea/vomiting. If you are in very good health and if you properly follow the pretox / preparation we send you, the above symptoms will not be present, if at all. Read more about our detox cleanse here.
We do not recommend following a juice detox during your pregnancy. The main reasons for this are the release of toxins during the detox cleanse and the reduced calorie intake. However, consuming a bottle of Sapje vegetable juice once or several times a day during your pregnancy is not a problem. This will give you extra vitamins in an all-natural form. However, do this in addition to a healthy regular diet.
Questions about shelf life
After pressing, we immediately freeze the juices using a professional, high-tech shock freezer. This extra fast and powerful catering freezer completely freezes the juices within 1 to 2 hours, keeping the quality very high and minimizing the loss of nutrients. So we do not pasteurize or pascalize, nor do we process our Sapje in other ways that may compromise nutritional value and taste. If you take delivery of the Sapjes frozen and then immediately put them in the freezer, they can be stored in this for up to several months (at -18°C or colder). Extensive microbiological testing for nutritional value has shown that the Sapje will keep for up to 4 days after thawing at 7°C or colder. Read more about why we freeze our Sapje here.
Glass is a pure and natural material. Only three raw materials are needed to make glass: sand, baking soda and limestone. Glass does not emit harmful substances to the liquids it contains, unlike many types of plastic. Consider substances such as bisphenol A (BPA), plasticizers, dioxin, vinyl chloride and styrene. Moreover, glass does not affect the taste of the Sapje. Because glass is impervious to bacteria, flavor, nutritional value and freshness remain better protected. In addition, producing glass takes relatively less energy than producing plastic. In fact, glass is 100% recyclable throughout its life. We also like the look and quality of glass. It is crystal clear, “sounds” delicious and fits well in your hand. Read more about the benefits of vegetable juice in glass here.
Frozen (at -18°C or colder), the juices will keep for several months, depending on the T.H.T. date on the bottles. If you don’t want to thaw the juices yet, put them in the freezer immediately after delivery. Thawed, unopened bottles of Sapje have a maximum shelf life of 4 days (at 7°C maximum). We do not recommend thawing Sapje and freezing it again, as this greatly reduces the taste and nutritional value. It is best to drink a Sapje immediately after thawing. This way you get as many nutrients as possible.
Sapje thawing at room temperature takes about 8 hours. Thawing in the refrigerator takes about 24-30 hours per single bottle.
Questions about my (future) subscription
After the minimum number of deliveries per subscription type, you are no longer bound by our terms of delivery. You can then cancel your Sapje subscription before each new delivery. For a subscription of 3 deliveries, it is after 3 deliveries. For a subscription of 6 deliveries, it is after 5 deliveries. For a subscription of 12 deliveries, it is after 9 deliveries. Cancellation can be done no later than the day you receive your reminder email (3 days before the next scheduled delivery). If you do this after that, one more delivery and payment will take place. If you have received the minimum number of deliveries for your subscription type and have not stopped your subscription, it will be renewed automatically. Canceling your Sapje subscription is done by sending an email to support@sap.je.
Getting a Sapje subscription is very easy. First you select your desired juices, shots, detox cleanse or juice box on the juice order page. Then on the checkout page you choose a subscription of 3, 6 or 12 deliveries. Then you immediately checkout your first delivery. Subsequent deliveries you pay by direct debit. The fee for each delivery will not be debited until the delivery day of your choice. So you pay for your Sapje subscription not per month, but per delivery.
You can change the contents of your box completely as you wish before each new delivery. The amount changes automatically with the direct debit. If you are logged in to your Sapje account you can do that very easily with the function “manage subscription”. Click on the button “change subscription” and change the juices, shots, detox cleanse or juice box for the next delivery.
Did you take out a Sapje subscription for 3 deliveries? Then you must also purchase 3 deliveries. A subscription for 6 deliveries requires a minimum of 5 deliveries. With a subscription for 12 deliveries, you must purchase a minimum of 9 deliveries.
The minimum order size with a Sapje subscription is 14 shots or juices (detox cleanses and juice boxes also count). The cost per delivery depends on exactly what you order and what subscription you have purchased. The discount on your Sapje subscription is calculated over the price of the juices. In addition, delivery costs (starting at 6.95) will be charged.
Adjusting a delivery can be done no later than 11:00 a.m. on the day before a scheduled delivery. Is your delivery scheduled on a Monday? Then you can change the delivery date until Friday 11:00 at the latest. Your payment/delivery frequency will automatically shift with it and the direct debit will adjust automatically. The reminder email you receive 7 days before a scheduled delivery helps you adjust the delivery day and time in time. If you are logged into your Sapje account, you do that very easily with the “manage subscription” function.
You can pause your subscription for up to 12 weeks with each delivery again. If you are logged into your Sapje account, you do that very easily with the “manage subscription” function. Click the “change day and time” button and select your new delivery time in the calendar.
Discount codes cannot be used in conjunction with a subscription, but you get 5%, 10% or 15% off the price of your Sapje anyway, depending on which subscription you take out.
When taking out a subscription, you pay directly for the first delivery with iDeal, Bancontact, Visa or Mastercard. Subsequent deliveries are paid by direct debit. Only on the delivery day the amount will be debited from your account. So you do not pay your Sapje subscription per month, but per delivery received.
You can change the delivery address until 11:00 at the latest on the day before a scheduled delivery. If you are logged into your Sapje account you can do that very easily under the heading “addresses”.
We are very flexible at Sapje. For each new delivery, you can adjust your subscription completely to your liking. You get a reminder email 5 days before each delivery, so you won’t forget it easily. Both the subscription form and the
