Lavender

Lavender is known as the fragrant love herb. In Latin, the plant is called “Lavandula Vera. The word “lavendulus” means “what needs to be washed. The Romans used the plant to wash themselves with because of its nice smell. Today, we still see many soaps or lotions with this wonderful smelling plant in them. The Latin word “vera” means “real. Besides smelling wonderful, lavender is also a very beautiful plant to see. Its pretty purple flowers fit into almost any garden.

Lavender in the kitchen

Lavender can also be used in cooking. Especially in French cuisine, both the flowers and the leaves of lavender are used as flavoring in meat, stews and soups. The fragrant flowers are also regularly used in sweet dishes such as desserts or cakes. Furthermore, you will see lavender in cheese or bread. In addition, you can make delicious tea of course. Lavender has a slightly sweet fresh flower flavor. Please note that not all varieties of lavender are suitable for eating.

Why do we use lavender?

Most people are familiar with lavender. We may know it in various soaps or lotions because it has a wonderful scent. However, lavender is also a perfect herb to use as a tea. It is therefore not for nothing that we have added lavender to our Relax tea.
