Zeesla

Sea lettuce is not related to the common lettuce. As the name suggests, it grows in the sea. And it is a seaweed, not a plant. Its very thin, broad, flat leaves are delicate, wavy and transparent. They resemble lettuce leaves and grow up to 50 cm long in several similar shapes. Sea lettuce looks like and feels like greaseproof paper, with a silky texture.

What substances does sea lettuce contain?

For starters, sea lettuce contains about 20% protein. It also contains a lot of calcium, and a lot of iron. It is low in fat and contains mostly polyunsaturated fatty acids. Furthermore, seaweed is rich in magnesium, manganese, potassium and iodine. Sea lettuce also contains a high content of fiber.
