Wild black currant

The wild black currant or cassis berry grows on shrubs over 1.5 meters tall on wet nutrient-rich soils in deciduous forests in northern Asia and northern and central Europe. The berries have a dark purple to almost black color and a typical sweet and sour somewhat spicy flavor. The berries are widely used in juices or incorporated into savory dishes. We tell you more about the (wild) black currant.
