Wild blueberry

The blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) is a plant in the heath family. It is native to North America, where they are still found in the wild. In fact, on top of the berry is a kind of pentagonal crown. Because of this, the berries were held in high regard by the original inhabitants of America. According to them, this “star berry” had been sent by the “Great Spirit,” among other things, to alleviate famines. Today, blueberries are still recognized as a “superfood. Besides being very tasty, it is also very healthy. Read why this is so.

Why is the blueberry so healthy?

The blueberry is an excellent source of vitamin K. In addition, the little berry provides you with a nice amount of fiber.

What does this mean for my health?

Vitamin K from the blueberry can support your health in several ways. Among other things, it helps with the normal clotting of your blood. Vitamin K also plays a role in bone formation and helps keep your bones strong. A 100-gram serving of blueberries already gives you 28% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamin K. Blueberries therefore fit perfectly into a healthy diet.

Why do we use wild blueberries?

The blueberry is packed with healthy nutrients. It supports your health and is also delicious. Of course, this superfood cannot be left out of our juices. Also, we do not use cultivated blueberries: we pick them in the wild! Thus, the ripening process happens organically. This gives extra vitamins and flavor to the berry, for example.
