Lime

Lime Lime is wonderfully refreshing, especially on a hot day. Did you already know that the citrus fruit comes from the vine fruit family (Rutaceae)? Originally, the lime comes from Southeast Asia. Here the fruit can ripen in all the warmth. Limes grow on trees that are about 6 to 7 meters tall. These trees can only grow in warm climates. Another fun fact is that limes have a pH of 2.0. This means they are very alkaline (not acidic!), which is often not claimed. Enough facts about the lime. What healthy properties does a lime actually have for you?

The healthy substances in a lime

100 grams of lime contains 39% (!) of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps maintain good immunity and is important for the formation of collagen. Collagen is a structural protein that, among other things, is important for the connective tissues in your skin. Because of this, vitamin C contributes to the care of your skin from the inside out. Vitamin C is also important for normal collagen production in your cartilage and bones. Vitamin C is further involved in the activity of certain enzymes that play a role in releasing energy from your food. In this way, vitamin C supports your energy metabolism.

Why do we use lime?

In short, the lime is a very healthy fruit. Moreover, the lime has a wonderful fresh taste. Therefore, we like to use lime in our juices and dishes. This way you get extra vitamin C in a delicious way!
