Granny smith
The Granny Smith is a popular apple variety native to Australia. This variety was bred by Marie Ana (Granny) Smith around 1865. It is believed to be a cross between Malus sylvestris, a wild apple, and a native apple variety.
The apple has a bright green color, is acidic and can be cooked or eaten out of hand. The variety is also used for salads because the slices do not brown as quickly as other apple varieties.
Apples are ideal as a healthy snack. They are nice and refreshing an easy to take with you on the go. In addition, apples are a good source of fiber.
