Centuries ago in ancient Egypt, chamomile was already used in traditional ways. It is also a common seasoning in the kitchen and you can make a delicious tea from it. We tell you more about this special herb below.
About the chamomile plant
Chamomile is an annual plant that blooms with striking white flowers with a spherical yellow center. Chamomile has a strong floral scent that will probably be familiar to you. The name chamomile comes from the Greek words ‘chamos’ meaning ‘soil’ and ‘melo’ which is Greek for ‘apple’, together thus ‘ground apple’. The name “ground apple” refers to the subtle apple scent of the low-growing plant.
Why do we use chamomile?
Chamomile is naturally decaffeinated and has a sweet taste. Lovely to take a moment for yourself. Both the flowers and stems of the chamomile plant can be used to make chamomile tea.
