Chicory herb

Wild chicory is the progenitor of endive and chicory. Chicory was already widely used by the Egyptians. The Greek physician Hippocrates also named the plant’s special properties. What substances are in it?

The milk juice of the chicory plant contains intybus, lactucine, lactucirol and lactupicrin. Furthermore, it contains resin and traces of the essential oil: pectin, caoutchouc and mannitol. The root contains inulin. The leaves contain choline, inulin, levulin. Furthermore, the herb contains pentosans, inositol, taraxasterol, coumarins, free amino acids, vitamins A, C and E, various minerals and trace elements.

What does this mean for my health?
