Coconut
Coconut has an almost endless array of medicinal, cosmetic and health applications. The flesh of the coconut contains a very high concentration of healthy fats, consisting mainly of medium chain fatty acids (MCTs – Medium Chain Triglycerides). These fats are not stored directly in the blood after consumption, but are transported directly to the liver, where they serve as a quick source of energy. As a result, coconut fat is not stored as body fat.
Several studies show that coconut offers numerous health benefits. For example, it contains lauric acid, which can increase the body’s resistance. Coconut oil can improve thyroid function and metabolism and helps lower the amount of LDL cholesterol in the body.
In addition to its health benefits, coconut is of course loved for its deliciously sweet, nutty flavor, which makes it a versatile and tasty addition in both sweet and savory dishes.
