kumquat

Kumquat (also called dwarf orange) is a small, oval citrus fruit native to Southeast Asia. Today it is also widely grown in countries around the Mediterranean Sea. The fruit stands out for its sweet, edible peel and fresh, acidic flesh – a surprising combination of flavors that makes it unique within the citrus family.

What makes the kumquat special is that you can eat it whole, including the peel. The peel is high in fiber, antioxidants and vitamin C, which contribute to a strong immune system and protection against free radicals. The flesh also provides potassium, folate, vitamin A and E, all of which are important for energy levels, skin health and proper digestion.

Kumquats are low in calories but rich in nutrients, making them a perfect fit within a healthy diet. Thanks to the fiber present, they help keep blood sugar levels stable and contribute to feeling satiated.

In addition to their nutritional value, kumquats are also culinary versatile. They can be eaten fresh, but are also delicious in salads, chutneys, desserts, marmalades or as a fresh flavoring with fish and meat dishes.

In short, the kumquat is a small fruit with great character – full of flavor, freshness and healthy benefits.
