Raspberry
The raspberry, also called Rubus idaeus, is a species of Rubus with red or pink fruits. This particular species is native to Europe and northern Asia. The raspberry belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae). The raspberry is related to, for example, blackberries or the Japanese wine berry.
The fruit of the raspberry plant is red or pink. It is sweet and very rich in flavor. The raspberry is a seasonal fruit that blooms in summer or early fall. Many people think that a raspberry is a berry, but botanically it is a compound fruit with numerous small drupes around the flower base.
